Cataclysm: what now?

Cataclysm. Coming this next december, 7. Some of you sent me PMs asking what are the plans for the expansion, so here goes.

I do intend to play again during Cataclysm. However, I dont know when. Honestly, the first week following expansions is just nightmarish. Farmers everywhere for the new herbs and veins. 58 people camping the same spot for quest mobs. Ninja goes wild in the new 5-mans. Add vacations, xmas and new year... I'll probably wait until january or february for some real activity.

I'm NOT transfering any of my 80s off Kirin Tor. My plans are to start over, rolling the new races. A goblin, of course. And a worgen, why not.

The plan is to play "smelling the flowers". No rush to 85, no rush to raids. Read the quest texts. <insert JUST CLICK ACCEPT comment here>.

After a long research, the server I'm creating the new toons is TURALYON-US. Strong alliance, strong horde. Both raids and pvp. Mature community. Looks like a good fit if we ever decide to move toons off Kirin Tor (but honestly, just thinking about spending $100+ just for transfers automatically cancels it for me, I'm cheap like this).

If you arrive in Turalyon before me, feel free to roll and charter a new <Daring Blades> there.

What are your plans? please let us know, lets try to keep in touch.

Woot, I will see you there, but I may transfer a char or two or three, because well I like being able to support my low levels like that.

I will absolutely sign up for this - And, Yeah, I agree I want to roll new toons and check stuff out along the way.

I had a similar reaction when I first heard they were going to trash the place, but then I realized that it is pretty cool the game is evolving. For as many games as WoW emulated this is actually pretty original - even though it is a cheap way to bypass a technical limitation to allow flying mounts.

We can sit around the smoldering remains of ironforge and remember when Big Boom wandered into the Blade's guild meeting and explained how all of the good names were taken.

MMmmmmm...I love me a fresh start. I have been thinking hard about this. Only thing that might make me want to transfer a char is this HUGE collection of Heirlooms I have. I have everything I would want to roll anything I want...And it is just sitting in the bank.

You know that you should be able to transfer heirlooms cross-server very soon, right?

It is already implemented to transfer cross-factions (alliance to horde and vice versa), should be implemented for x-servers with the new expansion.

Well... I'm not saying that I will play Cataclysm... but the DL is complete... We never know...

Even though I have transferred heiser with heirlooms - I don't think I will use them for my fresh toons - it seriously makes leveling way too fast, you outgrow your quests faster than intended - And I never picked up the weapons because +20% xp was enough IMO

I really hope the new areas and quests have some nice stories to enjoy at a slower pace - I'm not in a hurry to grind to 85.

Oh I will use heirlooms, I just click accept for quests never read em.
