Fallout 3 Empty Fallout 3

Whats up fellow blades! <3

I'm still dealing with WOW withdrawal syndrome, and have been looking for a new game to spend the eventual free time (still waiting for the baby). I tried Mafia 2 (marvelous graphics, but too much Grand Theft Auto for my liking), Dragon Age: Origins (excellent game, but in the same "internet dragons" genre)... I wanted to try something different.

I had this small smiling icon in my desktop forever, waiting to be played. Fallout 3. I installed this in early 2009 but never even started it past the initial opening sequence. WoW account expired, I decided to give it a try.

I regret not doing it sooner.

This game is absolutely fantastic. Year is 2077, post-nuclear cataclysm (pun intended). Devastated yet beautiful 3D world, and no it's not a shooter. Actually it's slow paced, emphasizing strategy over trigger-happy gameplay. Lots of exploration to do, *TONS* of side quests and excellent replayability

Fallout 3 is an action role-playing game released by Bethesda Game Studios, and is the third major game in the Fallout series. The game was released in North America on October 28, 2008, in Europe and Australia on October 30, 2008, in the United Kingdom and Ireland on October 31, 2008, and in Japan on December 4, 2008 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.

Fallout 3 takes place in the year 2277, 36 years after the setting of Fallout 2 and 200 years after the nuclear apocalypse that devastated the game's world in a future where international conflicts culminated in a Sino-American war in the second half of the 21st century. The game places the player in the role of an inhabitant of Vault 101, a survival shelter the size of a village, designed to protect a small number of humans from the nuclear fallout. When the player character's father disappears under mysterious circumstances, the player is forced to escape from the Vault and journey into the ruins of Washington D.C. to track him down. Along the way the player is assisted by a number of human survivors and must battle a myriad of enemies that inhabit the area now known as the "Capital Wasteland". The game has an attribute and combat system typical of an action strategy game but also incorporates elements of first-person shooter and survival horror games.

Following its release, Fallout 3 has received very positive responses from critics and a number of Game of the Year awards, praising in particular the game's open-ended gameplay and flexible character-leveling system. The NPD Group estimated that Fallout 3 sold over 610,000 units during its initial month of release in October 2008, performing better than Bethesda Softworks' previous game, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, which sold nearly 500,000 units in its first month. The game has also received post-launch support with Bethesda releasing five downloadable add-ons for the game.

You can read more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fallout_3

Give it a try if you can, you won't regret.

Yeah, I have that for my XBox!

I haven't played it in a while but it really is an interesting game. The humor is pretty off beat too, which I like.

Thanks for reminding me, I may have to dust it off. I didn't get very far and between raiding and work I didn't have the time.
