How to: Normalize vent volume

Post  Draann on Tue Nov 10, 2009 2:59 pm

Here's how:

- Go to Setup

- Enable Direct Sound

- Select the SFX Button

- Select Compressor and click Add.

- Under Compressor Properties use the following settings

- Gain = Adjust for how loud you want people to be. (I use 15)

- Attack = 0.01

- Release = Around 500

- Threshold = Around -30

- Ratio = 100

- Pre delay = 4.0

I have used this for quite a long time, works great, everyone sounds the same its nice, Hope this helps people.

Of course this doesn't work on the mac version because they don't really support it.

Vent wouldn't even have a mac version if it wasn't for the fact that there are a lot of WoW players that use a mac.

The only special effect you can use is volume ... so you have to "hand normalize"

Ironically the macintosh audio unit pipeline is much more flexible than direct X but it would require someone to care enough to code it and I don't see that happening hehe.
